I am getting some buffering while play episodes. What can I do?

There can be number of contributing factors to "buffering" issues when playing back video. There can be problems on our side, or along the many hops that data takes on its way to your computer, or at the point the data enters your physical location, or at the point the data touches your computer.

We are not experiencing any video delivery issues from our content delivery network at this time. Here's a list of things to check:

1. Check your internet download speed using a service like http://www.speedtest.net/. The higher the speed, the better.

2. Are you hardwired on an ethernet connection or on wi-fi? An ethernet connection will be faster than a wi-fi connection. If that's not possible, get as close to your wireless router. Avoid using a mobile phone's data connection, when possible.

3. Are there other processes running on your computer, such as file backup systems, anti-virus scanning, uploading or downloading of files, watching other video or audio sites? For best performance, close down or pause all other processes running on this computer. Do NOT disable your anti-virus program. Simply pause any scanning that it might be doing. Also, try closing out any programs that you are not currently using.

4. Are there other devices connected to the same network you're on? If you have mobile devices and multiple computers connected to your home or work network, check to see if any of them are using any internet resources that could be taking some away from what your computer needs. In some cases, disabling those devices from the network can help performance.

5. How much memory (RAM) is on your computer? The more RAM, the better. If you have 4GB or more, that's good. If you have 2GB or less, that could be contributing to the video buffering issue.

5. How much hard drive space is available? Your computer needs plenty of available hard drive space to stream online videos. Check to see that you have at least a few GB of hard drive space remaining.

6. Try a different web browser on that computer. Some browsers work better than others, depending on your computer, available memory, internet speed, etc.

7. Clear your browser's cache.

8. Reboot your computer.

9. Has anything changed on your computer lately, such as the updating of graphics drivers, anti-virus software, firewalls or browser plug-ins? Sometimes, something like that could cause a problem.

10. Try a different computer or mobile device on the same network. See if you experience buffering issues using a different computer or mobile device. If you don't experience the issue there, then the problem is isolated to your computer. If you do see the issues there, then it's likely not an issue with your computer. It might the internet connection or the router.
